Camper van
All motorhomes are transported in the direction of travel (i.e. forwards). Larger motorhomes with a total weight of more than 3.0 tonnes or an overall length of more than 6.0 metres must, when being loaded, drive onto the carriage wagon approx. 300 metres in reverse. This requires suitably experienced drivers, although our new, wide transport wagons make the slow reverse approach comfortable and straightforward. Due to the increased time required for loading, transport of larger motorhomes is excluded for the train service departing Niebüll at 4.30 am.
The number of large motorhomes (total weight of more than 3.0 tonnes or overall length of more than 6.0 metres) is also limited per train and carriage is only guaranteed with prior reservation/confirmation.
You can book tickets for motorhomes very conveniently in the webshop under the section "Campingfahrzeuge".
Alternatively, tickets are also available at the terminal, subject to availability (lane 11 in Niebüll, lane 2 in Westerland).
If you already have a ticket, but no reservation for the desired train, we recommend that you register online using the form to guarantee carriage.

Please note: We do not transport motorhomes with trailers.
How the loading works
Safety regulations
Caravans on the blue AUTOZUG Sylt must be secured using tensioning straps. Our staff attach the tensioning straps to suitable fixing points on the caravan. As the driver, you are therefore obliged to state the relevant fixing points on request. If there are no suitable fixing points for lashing with tensioning straps, or if you cannot identify any, transport of your motor vehicle is not possible.
Please ensure that all safety precautions for your vehicle have been taken before the train departs:
- Lock the sunroof, secure the closure of all flaps, roof hatches, ventilation windows and doors, and retract any aerials.
- Secure aerials that are permanently attached to the vehicle, such as satellite aerials.
- Do not operate any devices that cause the aerials to extend.
- Fasten the prescribed seat belts and remain seated in your vehicle with your seat belt on during the crossing.
- Secure and supervise children in your vehicle.
- Secure or remove wind deflectors, external blinds and non-permanently mounted aerials before departure.
- Ensure adequate frost protection.
- Do not stay in caravans or trailers!
Please also note that you are liable for the load of your vehicle.
Compressed gas cylinders
Caravans and minibuses equipped with the appropriate consumption connections may carry pressurised gas cylinders containing the gases listed in the appendix to the GGVSEB in Part 2 of the RID, subsection 2.2.2.3, classification code 2 F (e.g. butane, propane) under the following conditions:
- The contents per cylinder must not exceed 11 kg.
- There may be a maximum of 2 cylinders in a vehicle.
- All non-connected pressurised gas cylinders must be closed during the crossing and secured by means of a closing nut and protective cap.
- Both pressurised gas cylinders must be secured by a holder.
It is not necessary to carry accompanying documents. However, please note other relevant safety regulations, in particular the operating instructions for your vehicle or its equipment.
